We, in Scoil Iósaef Naofa, are committed to a philosophy of education which is firmly rooted in the principles of Curaclam na Bunscoile and draws extensively on our heritage as a school founded by the Presentation Brothers.

Acknowledging and cherishing the uniqueness of each child in our care, we seek the holistic development of the potential of the individual. Our work at Scoil Iósaef Naofa aims at developing each child to his full potential academically, socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Each child is enabled to participate in further education and to play a full part in society.

The ethos of our school is Catholic. We promote the Gospel values of love, respect, truth and justice. We are inspired by the life of Blessed Edmund Rice and following his example we strive to create a strong sense of community in our school. Looking after the less fortunate in our community and in the wider world is an integral part of this. We value the importance of symbols and wish these to reflect the ethos of our school. The Religion programme and the sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation are important to the development of the child.

We are eager to create a positive learning environment for the children in our care. We aim to teach all aspects of a broad curriculum. All members of the school community; parents, teachers, staff and pupils are treated with respect. We strive to create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere in the school. We acknowledge the place of the parents as the primary educators of children and seek to compliment the work of the home by maintaining communication with parents on the progress of their children. We value the contribution of all whether they be parents, teachers, ancillary staff or children to the life of the school.

As we seek to teach justice in the school our concern is to teach justly. Our rules and code of discipline are based on respect and equality. We do not tolerate in any of its forms.

Sport plays an important part in the life of Scoil Iósaef Naofa. We acknowledge the contribution of all sports to the holistic development of the child. We encourage participation in all sports bit in particular Gaelic games as they form part of our cultural heritage and are important components of a Gaelic ethos in our school.

Tá áit faoi leith ag teanga agus ag cultúr na Gaeilge i dtraidisiún na scoile seo agus déanaimid iarracht spéis i labhairt na Gaeilge a chothú.

We nurture and develop in the children a respect for and an appreciation of cultural and ethnic differences as citizens of a global community. We are committed to inclusivity and seek to focus on a person’s abilities rather disabilities whether they be physical or mental. We cultivate a respect for and love of the environment as part of God’s creation.
